How many mass murders have you committed today? None? Excellent!! What about bank robberies – have you done any of those in the last week? No? Fantastic!! Hopefully you’ve also not committed adultery or worshiped an idol, or any of the other big things.

But what about the little things: telling half-truths or withhold something in order to deceive, not being content with what you have, wanting things your way, trusting in your bank account more than trusting in God? Some of these may hit a little closer to home. But it’s ok – they’re the little things, right?

James 2 tells us that “For whoever keeps the whole law, but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it” (verse 10). He’s telling us that there are no ‘Little Sins.’

Sin is when we have turned away from God. Whether that be in the form of murder or yelling at someone in anger. There are no levels of sin, just like there will be no levels of being In or Out of Heaven.

However, just as there is no difference to God in the sin we commit, there is no difference to Jesus in the sin He forgives. The same blood that covers the little things that we struggle with daily also covers the big things that put people on death row. His blood can cover it all with no difference if we repent, confess, be baptized, and live faithfully.

So today, try not to go on any killing sprees; but also, try not to be influenced by the world (James 1:27). Give your heart to God in every little thing that you do.
