The holiday season is a wonderful time when people think about family and friends and spending time with those you love. We get to watch the joy and excitement on kids faces as they wonder what Santa is going to bring.

But it is also a very stressful time of year. You’ve got to find a present for every person on your list (which seems to get bigger every year). You’ve got to figure out when the whole family can get together for a meal. It’s also the time to get those end-of-year projects completed, final tests taken, reports turned in, or finances arranged. It can be a very stressful time.

But we are not called to live a life of stress. We are supposed to live a life of faith in God.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28)

Christ offers peace that “transcends all understanding” (Phil 4:7). But to have that peace, we must place our trust in Him. Even when we can’t find a present, a time for the whole family to come together, or when the end-of-year projects just aren’t working, know that God is in control.

Remember that we serve the Prince of Peace. When you start getting overwhelmed by the season, focus on He who loves you the most and I bet you’ll find a measure of comfort.
