Today is a cold, wet, miserable day outside. February is like that a lot. Just blah. But you know what? There is something really cool going on right now. Daffodils are blooming! Have you seen them on the road side? These bright yellow flowers are starting to dot the landscape providing a bright flash of color.

I think it’s interesting that Daffodils always come up this time of year; early February when the weather seems to be at its worst. But sure enough, there is something beautiful blooming on this gloomy day if you will look for it.

Perhaps God tells these flowers to bloom in the dead of winter to show us a lesson: that even in the most miserable seasons of our lives, good and beautiful things are still happening. We just have to look for them.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matt 11:28-29)

Are you in a cold, miserable season in your life? Look to Jesus, his love and compassion, and you’ll find beauty amidst the blah.
