It’s raining again today. With all the rain we’ve had lately I am reminded of Noah. You know, God asked Noah to do a pretty crazy thing: He asked Noah to build a really big boat in the middle of nowhere.

“I am going to put an end to all people for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood” (Genesis 6:13-14).

Now, it’s not recorded as saying this, but I would imagine that Noah took a lot of ridicule for what he was doing. For all we know, there had never been a boat of that size. For all we know, he was nowhere near a body of water. For all we know, there had never even been rain before. And this flood that was predicted wasn’t even going to happen for another hundred years. How crazy did Noah look to the rest of the world?!

As followers of Christ, we should all look a little crazy to the world. The world will say to take care of yourself first; Christ says to place yourself last. The world says to save up a nest egg for security; Christ says give all you have to the poor and store up your treasures in Heaven. The world says that the goal is to be happy; Christ says the goal is to be holy.

Christians are supposed to look different than the world. We are supposed to stand out.

May you look a little crazy today.
