I know of a lot of people that are going a little stir crazy at this point, wanting to get out of the house or see friends, or just for things to get back to normal. That’s very understandable. And perhaps the worst part is that we don’t have a definite end date to count down to, just a vague ‘It will be over someday soon.’ But for now, we do without ( fill in the blank ).

Jesus also spent time in social distancing. After His baptism, He spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness. I imagine a lot of that time was spent in prayer and meditation. And when He came out of that time, He was prepared to face and defeat the devil.

We have an opportunity right now to slow down our fast-paced lives and spend time in prayer and meditation. We have the opportunity to be content without certain comforts or privileges. We have to opportunity to rely on Christ for our strength and fulfillment.

Imagine coming out of this social distancing stronger in faith and in spirit. Jesus came out of His social distancing ready to start His ministry. How will you come out of this?

“…I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in what. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil 4:11-13)
