Have you ever heard the saying “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink”? Well, not too long ago I heard a rebuttal to that. A tall, Texan cowboy said, “Son, yes you can. You feed him salt.”

That’s very true. If you give him salt, he’s going to be thirsty and crave the water. So when you lead him to the water, he’s going to drink.

Christ, in his Great Commission, calls us to “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt 28:19). And the way that we do that is we become the salt of the Earth (Matt 5:13). When we live in a way that cultivates the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives, people take notice. They notice the love and joy and peace. And deep down, they want that too.

Displaying the Fruit of the Spirit in your life makes you the salt that makes those around you thirsty. Then when they are led to the Living Water, they will drink deeply.
