“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also believe in us so that they world may believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:20-21)

When Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane, he prays specifically for the unity of the church. The world is supposed to know us, and by extension know Christ, by our love for each other. But sometimes that love and unity have to be worked for. It doesn’t always happen naturally. Sometimes we have to give up our own wants and desires in order to be in unity with each other (Phil 2:3-4).

What is most important to you?

And what are you willing to give up to that end?
