I’ve seen a slogan pop up on social media every now and then that says “Hurt people hurt people.” It’s an interesting play on words meaning that people who have been hurt tend to hurt others. And since in many ways, we’ve all been hurt in some way or other, we need to be especially careful not to reciprocate that or pass it forward to others.
However, if that statement is true that ‘Hurt people hurt people,’ I wonder if we can substitute other words in. I wonder if…
Forgiven people forgive people
Loved people love people
Encouraged people encourage people
Healed people heal people
Hope-filled people fill people with hope
Jesus set the example for this in John 13:14-15. He washed his disciples’ feet and said “You should do just as I have done to you.” Served people should serve people. So much has been done for us, that it should be a natural desire to pass that forward.
Today, consider all the things that Jesus has done for you and how you might show that others.
