Have you ever really stopped to consider that Jesus lived? That’s what we did this past weekend at Camp Tahkodah. Think about it for a minute. Jesus really lived. He was an actual person with a life in the same way you have a life. I don’t just mean that Jesus just existed in history. I mean He lived, with breath in His lungs, dust on His sandals, and emotion in His heart. There were times he was tired after long days. He felt hunger in His stomach. He laughed with close friends and wept at gravesides. He faced betrayal, hurt, rejection, physical pain, and spiritual anguish. He also calmed the wind, healed the sick, raised the dead, and forgave sin. Jesus had a full life. But Let’s not forget that Jesus was both completely human and completely divine—and that’s exactly what makes Him the perfect Savior.

The theme this weekend was “Tell Me the Story of Jesus and ended up concluding with the focus of how our stories are part of His story. Through the Scriptures, we saw that Jesus wasn’t some distant deity hovering above our struggles. He stepped right into them (Hebrews 4:15-16). When you’re hurting, He understands. When you’re tempted, He gets it. When you feel like no one else sees you, He does. Jesus doesn’t just promise to be with us—He became one of us. Not just to sympathize, but to save.

So what part of Jesus’ life speaks to you most right now? Is it the pain He endured? The power He showed? The compassion He gave? Whatever it is, know that your story matters to Him. He sees it, He gets it, and He invites you to let it merge with His.

Spending the weekend with the teens of the North Heights Youth Group (NHYG) was an absolute blessing. Watching them dig into the life of Jesus, ask honest questions, and share personal stories reminded me that His story is still unfolding in every life, every heart, and every step of faith these young people take. I’m so thankful to walk this part of the journey with them. Let’s keep living like Jesus really lived, because He did.

In Christ alone,

Alex Mills
