A few things that you can control for yourself…

There are so many things that are out of our control. These should be obvious:

  1. You cannot control the past. Once an event occurs it’s gone and cannot be undone. Time moves on and you can not slow it down, speed it up, or go back to a previous moment.
  2. You cannot control the weather. Rain, sunshine, hurricanes, snow storms and tornadoes are uncontrollable. There’s not even a way to set up a bomb in the middle of a hurricane to disrupt it and the fallout would be devastating.
  3. You cannot control other people’s choices. You might be able to influence their thoughts or actions, but their decisions are their own.

However, you can control a few things. Maybe these are a few things that need work.

  1. You can control your attitude. You have the ability to choose to be joyful, thankful, and content. You can choose to have a Christ-focused mindset, even when there are trials and difficult challenges you are facing.
  2. You can control your prayer life. How often you pray, the sincerity, and the mindfulness of your prayers are choices you make.
  3. You can control your obedience to God. If God is asking you to do or not to do something then you get to decide if you will or will not. Now, going ahead and being obedient is obviously the right choice, but remember no one is forcing you to do so. That’s the joy of trusting and obeying.

After considering this… I realize that it all points to self-control. So the few things you can control are really you controlling you.

I also realize, I gotta lot of work to do in my life. How about you?

For the Lord,
