The concept of three persons in the Godhead is sometimes challenging to us. It was not that long ago that a 5th grader in a Wednesday night class asked me, “So you’re telling me that God and Jesus are the same person”? “

Yes exactly!” I exclaimed.

There is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Three in one. The concept might be best explained again by another 5th grader…

“God is like an apple. There is the skin, the flesh, and the core. One apple three parts and three jobs to do”.

That’s a really good and simple way to explain it.

One point that I believe is important to remember however is that all three persons in the Godhead are involved in the salvation of man.

The Father sent His sonJohn 3:16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” 1 John 4:10“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

The Son spilled His blood Ephesians 1:7 – “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace”. 1 Peter 1:18-19“knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.”

The Spirit revealed His Word and serves as a guaranteeJohn 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. Ephesians 1:13-14 – “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.”

God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit work to save all of man. All three in one work of salvation.

That’s remarkable!

I love you,

Alex
