Yesterday evening we enjoyed a delicious meal and took up a special collection to assist a struggling family in our community. Be grateful to the Father that He blessed you so abundantly over the past several months and years that you were able to give back to help someone struggling and hurting.

Because of your efforts, over $3,000 was collected for Brendan and Jessica Bagwell, to help their two sons and their rare medical conditions.

I won’t say “you should be proud” because you shouldn’t! Pride is a bad thing; it’s not about you! All the money you collected and gave is a reflection of God’s great blessing and charity. You were just the vessel He used to give to those in need. They will thank God–not you–for the great gift given to them. What a wonderful thing that is!

God only knows the far-reaching effects that your charity will have. This family will surely tell friends and loved ones about your great love. They will tell others too. Before long the North Heights church will be like the brethren in Rome, whose great faith was known the world-over (Romans 1:8).

You gave, and because you gave the Lord smiles on you. There’s a verse that comes to mind in times like this and it’s one many are no doubt familiar with…

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
(Act 20:35)

Giving–not taking–is a proof of your love (2 Corinthians 8:24), and charitable giving–agape love–is the greatest (1 Corinthians 13:13).

May God continue to bless us as long as we continue to give!
