How do you handle it when someone ignores you? Say you send your friend a text message. Time passes (seconds, minutes, an hour). You know good and well they won’t go more than two minutes without checking their phone. They got your text. They just didn’t respond. My brother-in-law has the horrible habit of calling me (which, come on, it’s 2020, no one talks on their phone). So I tend ignore the call and then, ten seconds later respond with a text.
He never texts back.
Sometimes he’ll call and I’ll just miss it then call him back, but he won’t answer. It’s like he calls me, hangs up, then throws the phone out the window and runs in the opposite direction. Anyway, here’s a Bible verse I can relate to…
Then Absalom sent for Joab in order to send him to the king, but Joab refused to come to him. So he sent a second time, but he refused to come. Then he said to his servants, “Look, Joab’s field is next to mine, and he has wheat there. Go and set it on fire.” So Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.

The next time you text someone and they don’t text back you have Absalom’s permission to set their lawn on fire.
