I firmly believe in the church using her time, energy, money, and talents to spread the gospel in our community. Sometimes, we host gospel meetings, lectureships, and seminars; of course, our worship and personal Bible studies are also opportunities to spread the message of Jesus. Other times, we have more relaxed 30,000-foot view opportunities that might only plant the seed about who we are and who we serve. These opportunities include VBS, Trunk or Treat, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, and Polar Express. Another event like this is what we are hosting tonight.

The Battle of the Bridge 5th Quarter is an opportunity for our NHYG to invite and encourage their friends and classmates to join us for food and games in a safe environment after the game between Batesville and Southside. All students, no matter what school they attend, are invited and encouraged to attend. We are using this opportunity in this ministry to plant the seed in students who usually do not attend worship with us at NHCOC to see what we are all about. Yes, tonight, there will be games, fun, prizes, and giveaways, but more than anything, we will take the opportunity to expose teenagers to NHCOC.

I am excited to offer a word of encouragement from the scriptures. I will talk to them about the battle we fight daily, not against each other in football, volleyball, or any other sport. Not against each other in a political arena or on the war front. We are talking about a battle not against flesh and blood but against the devil. I’ll take them to Ephesians 6 and expose the scriptures to these outstanding students.

If you want to be blessed, you should see this for yourself. I hope this event grows every year and we can make a difference in the lives of teens in our community.

For the Lord,

Alex Mills
