My wife and I have a small dog named Izzy. She (the dog) is really old and for the past few years has slowly, but now totally, lost her sight. And for the most part this isn’t a big deal. Izzy stays indoors all of the time except to use the bathroom and then she is supervised. But indoors she roams around freely and can find her way without much trouble. Except for one spot in the house. Izzy sleeps on our bed. And because she is so small, we have a small stool at the foot of the bed for her to use to get up and down. But the problem is that when she is on the bed, she can’t tell if the stool is there or not. She knows where is has always been. But she can’t see it, or feel it, or sniff it. So she goes to the edge of the bed and whines. And I encourage her: “Go on! You can do it!” And I present her with logic: “It’s never not been there. Why would it change now?” Sometimes I even pat the stool so that she can hear it. But it’s a rare thing that she will take the leap on her own.

God did not give us eyes to see spiritual things. But He has proved to us over and over that He is in control and we can rely on Him. If we look back on our lives, He has never not been there. If we listen to His Word, He is constantly encouraging us.

Today, take a leap of faith for our Lord.
