What a privilege it is to be so blessed that God gives us a multitude of opportunities to be generous and give to Him and others.

Today is Giving Tuesday. It’s not a national holiday or anything like that. But it recently has become a day when our culture sets aside a day to reach into our pockets and give to someone else or to some cause or organization.

Personally, I like to give to the church and then let the church do the work that makes the most difference for the Kingdom of Christ. I want God to get the glory. I want the financial giving I contribute go to something that’s gonna make an eternal difference. You decide how, when, and what you give but I encourage you to give to your local congregation of the Lord’s church. Give towards mission work, give towards our benevolent work, or other work like Youth Funds, scholarships, children’s homes, building funds, or just give with it not being ear marked at all. Just give.

Today is also a good day to consider what you give to the Lord’s church on a weekly regular basis. Did you know your regular giving should be a sacrifice that hurts? It should be purposed in your heart to give in such a way that you have to trust God to get you through till the next time He blesses you with another opportunity to give more. Wow, that steps on my toes but that’s giving biblically sound.

Today consider giving and be generous…

2 Corinthians 9:7-8

Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.And God is able to make every grace abound to you, so that in everything at every time having every sufficiency, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
