Christmas day is on a Sunday this year, and I want to encourage you to spend time with your family. Don’t stay home and open gifts and listen to Christmas music while you play with your kids and their new toys. Make worshiping God, who gives you the greatest gift of all, a priority. Open gifts before worship, enjoy time together as a family, and then spend time with your church family in worship of God. Afterward, go back home and spend time enjoying the day. You have a rare opportunity to teach your children and set an example for them, showing what is truly important in the Christian life.
Here is what Jesus said, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33). Things are temporary; things wear out. God’s kingdom endures forever. Make it more important to you than things.
