I’m sure we have all fallen for it. We see something that interests us. It might be a hobby or something that we are shopping for online. Maybe, even we see something that we’ve only had a few conversations about with our friends. Before long we see advertisement after advertisement about whatever it is. How do we know if it legit or not? Well, one rule of thumb is if it’s too good to be true then it’s probably not. Don’t click it! Don’t give your information. Don’t provide your bank account numbers, or debit card info. Don’t get scammed!

The same thing happens in our spiritual lives. The devil listens, watches, and seeks for opportunities to trick you into providing him with information, so that he can use it against you to steer you away from what is right, moral, and godly. He is out to trick, deceive and scam you. He will use whatever he can to entice you away from Jesus. He will make it sound right, look right, and feel right. But its the oldest scam in the book (Literally, the book, the Bible). The first scam, found in Genesis 3 is when the devil scammed Adam and Eve into thinking they could be like God. It was a trick and they fell for it.

Don’t think that the devil doesn’t do this today. “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

The devil will scam you by telling you:

  1. It doesn’t hurt this one time.
  2. No one will know.
  3. It doesn’t matter.
  4. You know better, you know more.
  5. God is not that picky.
  6. You can repent afterwards.
  7. You’ve got plenty of time.
  8. You don’t have to tell the whole truth.
  9. You deserve this.
  10. No one will blame you.
  11. Its just a little bit every once in a while.
  12. It’s too hard to do the right thing.

All I can say is…

DON’T GET SCAMMED!

God loves you and so do I,

Alexander Mills
