This summer’s mission trip is going to be bigger and better than ever! And it’s going to be something very different than usual. This summer, we are going to go all the way out to North Carolina to attend the American Missions Campaign’s School of Evangelism. AMC is an organization that travels around America offering training seminars on proper methods to knock doors, set up Bible studies, and training on evangelism. The program provides skills and tools for us to then put to use in our own community. The plan is to spend the week in NC getting some top-notch training, then come back home and, the week before VBS, go out to our community right here in the Batesville-area and spread the gospel, offering to have Bible studies, and inviting them to church. On our trip to NC, we will sprinkle in some stops and some evenings just for fun, but more importantly we will receive some practical training on how to do what we as the church are called to do: share the gospel with those around us! Here is some info about the trip:
– This trip is going to be free-of-charge to all the teens (and parents) that want to go. In order to help finance the trip, the youth group will be hosting the 2nd Sunday Fellowship Meal in May as a fund raiser meal. I will need those teens who are going on the trip to help me prepare and serve the meal that Sunday.
– This is a partly ‘no-cell phone’ trip. Because the drive is so long, teens can have their phones as long as the phones do not keep them from spending time with other people on the trip. Once we get to NC, phone need to be put away completely until we are headed back home. I will have my phone with me to take pictures and be an emergency contact if you need to get in touch with your kids.
– I need to know ASAP who all will be going on this trip! May 14 will be the absolute deadline, but the sooner I have a number of how many will be going, the more effectively I can plan things out. So, check your calendars now and let me know in the next week or so who is coming. 6th graders who will be moving up to the youth group this June are welcome to come on this trip
– We need several adults (men & women) to help out. PARENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COME!!!!!

This will be a very spiritually enriching trip full of service, worship, and lots of time spent together. And it will probably be one of the most fun and rewarding weeks of your summer. Youth group and parents, make plans to join us as we serve the Lord by serving others.
