Conversation is a precious human need that is as essential as the air we breathe. The bond we experience after an endearing long talk helps to carry us through some of the most stressful difficulties we face each day. Prayer allows us to talk to God, and it needs to be something we do “without ceasing” (1 Thess 5:17). But having a conversation with someone else who can provide godly counsel is also a Biblical principle and a Christian activity.

To have people to listen to you who can relate to you and guide you is invaluable. People desire to have someone listen to them whom they can trust, respect, admire, and feel good about. When I think of needing advice and counsel, I think about how important it is to find someone who will listen. Having Christian brothers and sisters counsel each other with wise words will help us all to grow stronger and face whatever difficulties we may have to endure.

Listen to this counsel from these four verses from Proverbs:

Proverbs 27:9  – Oil and perfume make the heart glad, So a man’s counsel is sweet to his friend.

Proverbs 15:22 – Without consultation, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors, they succeed.

Proverbs 12:15 – The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.

Proverbs 11:14 – Where there is no guidance, the people fall, But in abundance of counselors, there is victory.

Everyone needs someone to talk to. Do you have someone?
