I know I’m a little silly when leading VBS songs. Some might even say obnoxious. I know it’s loud. I know there are times you wonder how this even teaches anything at all. It’s just a song about different size frogs or a grouchy rooster.

Au contraire!

The songs are specifically designed to teach children about God in a fun and lively way. And believe it or not, it teaches adults too. If anything, it teaches adults that we are alive and active as a church reaching into the hearts and minds of children all over our community! VBS is designed to strategically teach people about the church, the Bible, God, and the gospel in a fun and inviting way. Sure, it’s unconventional, but the method does not interrupt the results. People are impacted, encouraged, and lifted in spirit, all at the same time learning something that is eternally life-changing.

VBS reminds me that we are making an evangelistic impact here in our little corner of the state. We work hard to reach people all over our county, hoping for the opportunity to share the gospel with them. It reminds me that we need to stay evangelistically active not just in the summer months but in the coming months and beyond.

We are a church that is working, active, encouraging, loving, forgiving, spiritual, intellectual, strategic, emotional, devoted, and committed to lifting Jesus up in our lives and in our community. Therefore, we need to get moving and make disciples by teaching them all the things Jesus taught. He will be with us as we go.

Matthew 28:19-20

Let’s get moving, NHCOC!

I love you,

Alex
