I was looking back over past years’ VBS events that we’ve had at North Heights and it may interest you to know that in 2019 (before Covid was a thought in anyone’s mind), we set a goal to get 300 people here for VBS. I say again: We HOPED we could MAYBE get 300 people here. That was our GOAL. Fast forward (in time!) to the present day: Last night, Sunday night, the first night of VBS 2023, we had almost 350 people in attendance.

That is astounding.

The past few years saw us battle the effects of the pandemic, not just on our physical health but our mental and spiritual health as well. VBS was nonexistent in 2020. It was a shell of its former self in 2021. Last year was the first year where it felt like things COULD go back to normal. This year, normalcy has not only been achieved, it has been replaced with a new, better, normal. Thank God for everyone who came up the hill to enjoy night one.

Last night was only the beginning. If you missed it, worry not: Tonight the magic continues. Be here at 6:30pm and be amazed. You might think you have a good reason to stay away, but I would argue the opposite: You have every good reason to be here!

Don’t have little kids? That’s fine: We have teen classes!

Don’t have any kids? That’s fine: We have adult classes!

Have something better to do? That’s not fine: You do not!

Your favorite TV show isn’t going anywhere. Barbenheimer can wait. That book you’re currently reading will still be there when you get home. If you’re tired from work and that recliner is calling your name, don’t sit down; come to VBS and the sounds of children lifting their voices in praise to God will awaken your spirits (and the sound of them singing “Booster” will awaken the rest of you).

God is giving you every reason to come to VBS. Take your pick and be here tonight. See you then!
