For each person to head in the direction of where salvation is, we first must come to the realization that God is.

Now before you ask, did Alex leave something off that last sentence? God is what???

No, I did not leave anything off… God is a lot of things, and many of those attributes will be explored this year in many articles, sermons, and devotionals. Right now, we have to begin with the fact that God is. That is, God exists. “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Did you catch that? If we want to come to God and please Him with our faith, we must first believe He is. God exists. It’s the beginning of our faith.

A plethora of evidence is available to us that proves God’s existence.

  • We have creation around us (Romans 1:20; Hebrews 3:4).
  • We have beautiful things to behold (Psalm 19:1-6).
  • We have life and intelligence to experience (Genesis 1:26; Psalm 94:9-11).
  • We have a moral compass to direct our decisions (Genesis 20:9).
  • We have man’s spiritual nature (Acts 17:23;27-29).

But even with all these proofs that testify to the existence of God. All that God really wants is for us to have faith. Because faith is, as the Hebrew author wrote, “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). So even with all the evidence that proves God is, all we really need is to believe without seeing all the evidence. That is faith, and that is what it takes to please God, who is.

Look around you and see the evidence; more importantly, look above you and have faith.

I love you,

Alex
