There is a part in the book of Esther where Haman is having a great day. Everything is going his way – life is but a dream. In fact, he goes home and tells his wife and friends about his day:

“And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and the servants of the king. Then Haman said, “Even Queen Esther let no one but me come with the king to the feast she prepared. And tomorrow also I am invited by her together with the king.” (Esther 5:11-12)

However, one thing did happen that day: Mordecai did not bow down to him. And even though Haman had all these things going for him…

“Yet all this is worth nothing to me, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.” (Esther 5:13)

You ever have one of those days (or weeks) where there was only about one or two minutes that were ‘bad,’ but yet all the rest of the day and all the good things that were going on meant nothing because of a bad two minutes?

Philippians 4 tells us that when we have a poor mindset, we need to turn our minds toward thankfulness and focus on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy. There will always be things that can ruin your day. But there are also always things that can brighten your day.

Don’t let a bad two minutes turn into a bad day.
