News flash… God doesn’t care about your happiness. Don’t get me wrong, the feelings of happiness are good, and we can use moments, situations, and circumstances to glorify God in our bliss. However, sadly, many Christians believe that God exists as our “personal assistant,” anticipating how He can assist us in our happiness. Some even go as far as to justify sinful actions by saying, “God just wants me to be happy.”

But really, God doesn’t concern Himself with your happiness. Happiness is tied to feelings and emotions that are usually based on circumstances, and circumstances change constantly. What God really wants is for us to be obedient to Him and trust Him, which results in being blessed. He wants us to enjoy the blessings He freely gives to those who are in Christ.

Ephesians 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.

What God wants is for you to be holy and blameless, enjoying the blessings that are found in Christ. Happiness has nothing to do with the outcome. Don’t get the cart before the horse. Being happy results from being holy. Let me make it clear, holy then happy in that order.

Work on your holiness today, not your happiness, and notice how blessed you will be.

I love you,

Alex
