Anyone who knows anything about gardening knows that now is the time to get things in the ground—potatoes, carrots, lettuce, radishes, onions – some of my favorites. We plant now because we know that later, we will reap a harvest. We also prepare the garden for the crops that come later, like, tomatoes, green beans, peppers, cucumbers – because if we don’t do the work now, we won’t see the blessings later.

The same is true in kingdom work. The harvest will be here before you know it so we should get to work now.

Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38). The fields are ready, but the question is – are we?

In just a few months, our Summit Youth Rally (May 30 – June 1) will be here. Then comes church camp, Uplift, mission trips, and of course, VBS (July 27 – 31). These are incredible opportunities to plant seeds in young hearts and minds, but we need laborers! We need volunteers to help make all of these possible. Ask me how you can be involved, now and we will read the harvest later. Because, you see,  our work doesn’t start when those events begin – our work starts now.

Jesus told the parable of the sower in Luke 8:5-15 – some seed fell on rocky ground, some among thorns, and some on good soil where it produced a great harvest. Our job is to prepare the soil and scatter the seed! Some hearts are hard and need softening. Some are crowded with distractions and need clearing. Some are ready, but they need someone to plant the gospel in their lives.

So, let’s get to work! Get in the ground and get your hands dirty. Prepare the soil. Spread the seed. Serve wherever you can. Do the work now so that later, the harvest will be ready.

Are you ready to labor for the Lord? Sign up to help, pray for these works, and be a part of something eternal. The harvest is coming – let’s be ready!

In Christ alone,
