I’m sure that you have dived head-first into your day today. You’ve gone to work, or done some chores, or gotten yourself ready for the day. It may vary depending on when you’re reading this, but most likely you have risen to face the day in some form or fashion. But have you prayed? And I don’t mean a hastily chanted ‘Lord, help me get to work on time!’ I mean, have you purposefully been still and quiet so that you could really talk to God and give Him your undivided attention? Even if just for 5 minutes.
It goes without saying that prayer is extremely important throughout scripture. Not only is it commanded (1 Thes 5:16, Phil 4:6) but it was demonstrated by the life of Jesus (Mark 6:46, Luke 6:12).
So, have you prayed today? If not, whatever you are doing can wait 5 minutes. Close your phone, clear off your desk, find an empty room, whatever you need to do, just take some time and spend it just with God. Use the time to really open up to Him about what’s going on in your life. Or maybe pray for others in your life. Or get out the prayer list and spend a full minute on each person. Prayer is the best way that you can spend your time today. Don’t let Satan tell you that you are too busy.
