A Holocaust denier was debating a man who taught the truth about the Holocaust:

Denier:

“If what you’re saying is true, you’re condemning six million Jews to their deaths!”

Truth Teller:

“No, I’m just stating the facts. Whether you believe it or not doesn’t change the nature of truth. I can’t control the fates of anyone, regardless of what I believe about the truth.”

Now isn’t that clear cut?

…Meanwhile:

Denier:

“If what you’re saying is true—that baptism is a command—then you’re condemning countless people who never bothered being baptized according to the New Testament!

Truth Teller:

“No, I’m just stating the facts. Whether you believe it or not doesn’t change the nature of truth. I can’t control the fates of anyone, regardless of what I believe about the truth.”

And yet that position is regarded as extreme whereas the first one is considered reasonable.

Funny how that works.
