It’s one week after the election. Are you enjoying the lack of political ads, text messages, and endless pontifications? I know I am. I’m also happy to hear the end of the hyperbole. I think this was the fourth election in a row where I was told “this is the last election” and “this is the most important election.” Are elections important, at least on a secular, micro scale? Sure. That said, my good friend Chuck Ramseur had a wonderful post on facebook on Election Day last week, and I wanted to share it…

That’s it.

Voting is done, but “loving” remains the best thing you can do today. We can wait another two years to be nagged to “go vote.” But today and everyday is a good day to “go love.” I hope you will.

And if you’ll permit me to make one final comment about the election…

It is a curious thing to behold, and I say this having dear friends who vehemently support Trump and dear friends who vehemently oppose(d) him… and maybe “curious” isn’t the right word, but it’s interesting to watch how similar the reactions are from anti-Trump voters in 2024 compared to anti-Biden voters in 2020. A lot of the same “I don’t like it and I don’t understand it, but I trust the Lord has a plan” talk is happening with some this week that was being had by others four years ago.

I take solace in this: The common denominator with them both, and in fact, dare I say, the unifying thing with them both, is this: They both recognize that God has a plan.

Let us all rejoice in that!
