If you find the perfect congregation

please share and let me know.

I’d spy the flawless love

that from its members flow.

~

If you find the perfect congregation

please give me the address.

I’d spy a flawless place

that is only ever blessed.

~

If you find the perfect congregation

please give me its location.

I spy some flawless folks

who’re pure in Jesus’ nation.

~~~
When I find that perfect congregation
I feel I must confess:
I won’t become a member,
lest my presence make it less.
~
I for sure am not a perfect Christian;
I’ve done a thousand sins.
I’d only bring them down,
in the messed-up state I’m in.
~
So perhaps I won’t go looking for
a place of flawless sheen.
Instead I’ll find a church,
whose sins are oft-wiped clean.
If you ever do find a perfect congrgeation, please don’t go there: You’ll ruin it! Don’t feel bad; I would too. None of us is perfect. We all need Christ to fix our mistakes. If you’re holding out on being part of a church family because “that person there did_____” or “I heard they once_____” you might as well give up your search all together: Every congregation has imperfect members, made whole through the blood of Jesus.
I gather weekly in a church house full of imperfect people, all of whom worship a perfect God in spirit and in truth.
That’s good enough for Jesus.
That’s good enough for me.
