The phrase “good grief” is not exclusive to Charlie Brown. It is actually a euphemism for “good God” and is an expression exclaiming, surprise, alarm, dismay, frustration or some other negative emotion. Personally, I try to stay away from using God’s name in this way. But I know I’ve said “Good Lord!” a time or two. I know I’ve used “good grief!” many times. But instead of talking about this phrase and usage let’s ask this question. “Is there such a thing as good grief?”

Well, I believe there is. I believe that God created us as emotional beings and grief is an emotion that we often feel. I also believe that God can guide us on how to handle grief and its certainty. I also believe there is a good way to handle grief and I know there are unhealthily terrible ways of handling grief.

This weekend at North Heights is an opportunity for all of us to learn about grief and learn how to have good grief.  I hope to see you at the Spark of Life Grief Workshop. Below is the schedule and the link to register.
