I’ve had part of an old hymn going through my mind this morning. It’s from the song ‘It Is Well with My Soul.’ This verse it what I’ve been replaying:

My sin,
Oh, the bliss of this glorious thought,
My sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross
And I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, oh my soul!

How excited do you get that your sin has been forgiven? Here in this song, the author is so overwhelmed by what has transpired that he has to restart his sentence. ‘My sin…oh man, I just can’t believe it!….my sin is gone!! All of it!’

If the glorious thought that all of our sin has been removed doesn’t move us to tears, perhaps we don’t really understand what sin does to us and the consequences it brings.

I pray that this verse of this song gets stuck in your head today so that you say it over and over.
My sin, not in part but the whole, is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more.
Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, oh my soul!
