This year, Alex and Matthew are doing sermons from the song book. And probably one of the most well-known ‘church  songs’, one with a powerful and deep message, is one that we usually pass off as just a kids’ song.

Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so.

You could stop there and already receive a message that if we really made the center of our lives, would change everything.

Jesus loves me, this I know – How often do we feel alone? How often do we feel unworthy or worthless? Jesus loves you. Not because of anything you have done. Not because you have earned it, or have to continually earn it. He loves you in spite of everything, no matter what.

And that can be hard to believe, but it’s true because the Bible tells me so. We believe that the Bible is the ultimate, infallible truth. And it clearly says that Jesus loves us. He loves us so much that he was willing to die for us. It’s up to us then to accept that truth and allow God’s love to abide in us and transform us.

God tells us over and over in Scripture and in our walk with Him, “Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me.” The Bible tells me so.

Today, meditate on what it means to be loved by Jesus and how that love would change things in your life if you would let it.
