This time of year has always been so meaningful to me. I love the festivities, the food, the fellowship, and the fun all of which is focused on the season. The Christmas season is a beautiful reminder of God’s love and the gift of Jesus as the Savior of mankind. He is the reason for the hope that is in us and the Gospel we share to the world. This a perfect time to reflect deeply about the gift of salvation. Let’s make this time of year special by:
- Cherishing the opportunities to gather for worship with the church. Let’s embrace our times of devotion, singing, prayer, and communion.
- Slowing down and enjoy quality time together whether it’s watching movies, playing board games, or simply sitting by a fire drinking hot chocolate. Embrace these times of connection.
- Seeing the joy in the eyes of children all around. Their joy can be contagious even when you have teenagers. Watch how much children engage in Christmas traditions, watch how generous children will be when they give to others. Notice how their faith will grow and focus on Jesus.
- Giving to others with cheerfulness. One of my most favorite pares of this time of year are the opportunities to give to someone else and bless them. It might be a simple gift, or service to others or encouraging someone who needs it.
- Sharing the message of Jesus. I love the opportunities to show people who Jesus is and the saving message of salvation. This time of year brings numerous opportunities to see people’s faces light up when they hear about the good news of Jesus. Let’s take these opportunities to teach people the truth of the gospel.
Christmas is a season filled with love, joy, and faith. It is a time to grow closer to God, our families, and the church. It’s a privilege to experience and share this beautiful celebration of Jesus’ birth and the whole gospel story.
For the Lord,
Alex
