I know it’s a busy time of year and there’s lots to do but I hope you will make it a priority to attend our Meat and Potatoes sermons on the first and third Sunday nights of the month. Attendance has been good, but it could be better! The series is so named because we wanted to convey the idea that we’re digging deeper and exploring Bible topics in more of a comprehensive way than what you might get in a typical Sunday morning sermon. Don’t get me wrong, we try to fill your plate in the ten o’clock hour too, but Sunday nights are set aside for a deeper dive into God’s amazing book.

This Sunday night, I’m going to be preaching on the ONE Baptism…

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all

(Ephesians 4:5-7)

What is the one baptism? Why is it the one? Are there any others that aren’t the one? We’re going to walk through the Bible, starting with the Old Testament, and look at various baptisms (plural) found in the pre-Christian era, recorded in four key texts. That will serve as a set-up for the rest of the study, looking at so-called “Christian baptism” (a bit of an oxymoronic expression, if you ask me) as found in four key New Testament texts.

I’ve got something else up my sleeve, too, but I’m not going to tell you what it is. See you at 9am for Bible Class on Sunday, and see you again at 5pm for some meat and potatoes. Don’t miss it!
