How often do you think about wanting a closer relationship with God? Do you ever wish you could see God? Do you ever feel that something is missing in your relationship with the Almighty? Its true that people, young and old, want to know God, but not just know about God, they really want to know Him on a personal level. They want to see Him, talk with Him, and walk with Him. Often times though people are not sure what to do to grow spiritually. Growth does not just happen it takes work. It takes getting the right spiritual nutrition. If we don’t get fed we quickly begin to spiritually die. Now, it’s true that not everyone grows at the same pace and we can sometimes have our doubts about our spiritual growth.

The psalmist in Psalm 42 understood the value of a relationship with God and how important it is to desire it as much as someone desires water. He says,

“As the deer pants for the water brooks,

So my soul pants for You, O God.

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;

When shall I come and appear before God?

My tears have been my food day and night,

While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me.”

Knowing God does not have to be a daunting task. Your conversation with Him is just a prayer away. Long for Him. Cry out for Him. Thirst for a close relationship with God as much as a deer thirsts for the water. Years ago I heard someone ask, “ If you don’t feel close to God, guess who moved?” God never moves from us. We move way from God. James says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)

Let’s work on our relationship with God together and thirst for Him as the deer.

For the Lord,

Alex
