I don’t know about you but I have really enjoyed sitting in Bible class the last few weeks learning from Frank and now Ryan as we have studied the books of Ephesians and Philippians and I am looking forward to Don teaching the other prison epistles in a few weeks.

I especially appreciated Ryan’s class from Philippians 2 and the specifically the comments he made about the phrase “work out your own salvation” (Philippians 2:12).

Our working for salvation is done with “fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:”12). But what is this fear? The fear Paul speaks of is:

  • Fear that leads to knowledge (Proverbs 1:7.)
  • Fear that motivates us to hate evil (Proverbs 8:13).
  • Fear that spurs love (1 John 4:17-18).

We typically do not like to be afraid or scared. But this a different fear. This fear is respectful submission to God will for us in our lives. This fear spurs us to trust and obey for there’s no other way.

Don’t be afraid but be fearful in your salvation. Not Afraid but fearful.

I love you,

Alex
