I was reminded this week how God uses regular people. Not everyone will be the perfect person for every job in your eyes. And you might even think that some people are not qualified. Some, you might even say, are too ordinary to do what is ahead of them. And you might even be thinking the same thing about yourself. Consider this:
If you feel you are too ordinary for God to use you, then great, you are exactly who He is looking for. Peter and John stood before the religious leaders, and those men were astonished because they were “ordinary men with no special training.” They weren’t scholars or holders of political power; they were fishermen who had been with Jesus. That was their difference-maker. God has always chosen regular people to do extraordinary things. Shepherds who became kings, teenagers who stood up to giants, and mothers who raised prophets are found all throughout the Scriptures.
So if you ever feel “not good enough”, relax. God doesn’t need perfect people. He needs a willing heart. When you say “yes” to serving, sharing, and showing kindness, then you are showing Jesus in ways that can change the world around you. You don’t have to be famous, polished, or powerful to make an impact. Just be faithful and willing to share your hope and salvation. The world doesn’t see Jesus through flawless people; it sees Him through people like you and me. It sees Jesus through the eyes of people who love in extraordinary ways.
Blessings,
Alex
