When we read the gospels, there is no doubt that we see that Jesus made it absolutely clear that He was the one predicted to be the Savior of Israel and, ultimately, the world. Jesus said He was the one Moses and the prophets wrote about. He proclaimed that He was there to fulfill all that was predicted in the prophets concerning His coming.

Notice Matthew 5:17 – “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.

Notice Luke 18:31-33 – Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon, and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again.”

Notice Luke 24:44 – Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

The many predictions written about Jesus are numerous. In his book Evidence That Demands a Verdict, Josh McDowell says there are over 332 predictions concerning Christ. Others account for over 600! Whatever the case, that is plenty of evidence from prophecies that point to Christ and Jesus said that He fulfills each and every one of them.

What are the odds that one man could fulfill every prophecy about him by chance? Ted Stewart writes in his book, New Discoveries that Confirm the Bible, that the odds are 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 if only eight of the prophecies about Jesus were fulfilled. That’s 1 in a quintillion.

If Josh McDowell is correct, and there are over 300 predictions concerning Christ, what are the odds? In my opinion, the odds are ever in His favor.

One prediction in our minds this time of year is that He would be born by a virgin. What are the odds of someone in ancient times being born to a mother who had never had relations with a man? The answer: ZERO unless it’s miraculous! Here is what was told to Mary:

Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.” Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

For nothing will be impossible with God.”

(Luke 1:26-35; 37)

What an incredible prediction about Jesus that came true and a fantastic miraculous event in human history.

The odds are ever in His favor because nothing is impossible with God!

I love you,
