A quick thought:

An idol is so powerless you have to nail it down so that it doesn’t fall over (Isaiah 41:7). It has no say in the matter. It has no mind. It can’t do anything. It just sits there, doing nothing for the one who pleads to it.

Christ is so powerful that He allowed Himself to be nailed down; He willingly went to the cross, having His mind on us (Philippians 2). And though He could have stepped away and called 12 legions of angels to destroy the world (Matthew 26:53), He chose instead to die for us. Far from doing nothing, He did everything, and now He sits in Glory, advocating for us who plead to Him (1 John 2).
