Our God is not a small God who is limited to doing small things. He declares in Malachi 3:10 “see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” He demonstrated His abundance when the Israelites wanted to meat while wandering in the desert. God surrounded their camp with quail, three feet thick for a days journey in any direction (Num 11:31). When God said he would bless Solomon with riches (1 Kings 3:13), so much gold and silver was brought into Israel that silver was as common as stones (1 Kings 10:27). Jesus took 5 loaves and 2 fish and feed 5,000 people, then had more leftover than what they started with. Our God is not limited to small things.

This year for VBS, we asked God to bless our efforts; to help us reach the hearts of the people in our area that He is preparing to add to His church. The very first night, we the highest numbers for a first night ever. Then the second night, even more people showed up. Last night, well over 400 people were here at the building hearing about the true events of the Bible; many of whom have not been to North Heights before. Our classes have been packed to overflowing. We’ve had to make adjustments everyday to accommodate for the growing numbers.

All I could think of last night as I was looking at the hundreds of people singing VBS songs was, “see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” Every one of the people that come is a blessing. And with great blessing, comes great responsibility.

Many of the visitors to our VBS are having a great time, but don’t really have plans of coming back after tonight. We need to use the time that we have with our visitors to introduce ourselves and show them that we want to get to know them; that we care for them and want them to be a part of our family.

I know that it is going to be busy at VBS tonight. But take some time to intentionally talk to someone that you don’t know and make sure that they know that they are wanted here.

See you tonight for the final night of VBS 2023!
