I random thought I had, but first:

I am not getting political here. My political opinions are my own and any mention of any political candidate or representative is neither an endorsement nor a repudiation. This is just a thought.

Anyway, here’s the thought I had:

Donald Trump talks smack.

There. Was that so controversial? I think we can all agree that the 47th President likes to talk trash, in person and online. In that respect, though he will soon be the oldest man ever to hold the office, he is the most “modern” President our culture has yet had. That’s not my point though. My point is this: I was thinking about some of his recent trash talk, the kind that was directed, not to an elected official, but a private citizen (someone who vehemently opposed his first run for office, his previous administration, and his recent comeback win).

I thought about how surreal it would be to check my phone in the morning and see the “leader of the free world”—arguably the most powerful single person on Earth—not only knowing my name, but actively and openly making fun of me on Twitter.

Like, can you even imagine that?

And then I had another thought: God is THE most powerful Being, not just on Earth, but the all of everything, and He does know my name, and despite the times when I opposed Him, He has given me mercy and grace. When He speaks to me, it is with words of comfort, love, and teaching. It would be easy for Him to trash talk me. Instead, He whispers sweet peace to me. That’s amazing.
