There’s something about Camp Tahkodah that when you are there ,and I mean really there, it just feels like you are closer to Jesus. Tucked away in God’s creation not far from here, it becomes a place where distractions fade (mainly because you will NOT get a cell signal the entire time you are there) but your faith in Jesus can become deeper and more authentic. This weekend, our kids from NHCOC and a few of their friends will have an amazing opportunity to come together for our Spring Retreat and I am sure it will be powerful.

The theme for our weekend is simple, but life-changing: “The Life of Jesus”. It’s the greatest story ever told but not just a tale from long ago—it’s THE ONE story that changes everything. Our prayer for the weekend is that each camper will see how their life story can meet the story of Jesus and that His story would be written on their hearts.

This weekend is more than just a break from school, work or a few days in nature. It is designed to be a spiritual turning point for many of our kids and adults. It will be a time to laugh, sing, open up, and most of all to grow closer to Jesus.

As a youth and family minister, I can’t describe how much it fills my heart to be in moments like these. I love being involved with our kids and watching how they will draw closer to each other and to Jesus, watching lightbulbs go off, watching tears fall during prayers, and hearing kids say, “I want to know more about Jesus.”

Today, we pack up, get ready, and drive off. My heart is full of anticipation as I am sure that we will experience a deeper connection to each other and to Jesus.

My prayer is simple: “Let the story Jesus transform us and be written on our hearts.”

Please, pray for us this weekend?

In Christ alone,

Alex
