DECEMBER 4, 2020| IN OUR GYMNASIUM | FREE TO ALL AGES

Our biggest community event of the year is the POLAR EXPRESS. It’s holiday fun for all ages, with cookies and treats, games to play, hot chocolate to enjoy, a free gift to every visitor, a train ride, and of course…

A FREE PICTURE WITH SANTA!

The fun for us begins earlier in the week, when NHCOC takes part in the annual Batesville Christmas parade. We load up our Polar Express train and drive down Main street with our members in tow, tossing out peppermints and handing out fliers to the event. We don’t want to brag but our float came in first place in 2017 and second place in 2018. That’s fine, though. Second place is fine.

It’s fine.

Anyway, on the first Friday of December we open our gymnasium to the public and hundreds of people from all around pour into a winter wonderland of fun and games. We can’t describe the joy we feel when we watch the little children step inside to see the area all decorated with candy canes, snowmen, reindeer, and more. Everyone who leaves does so with a smile on their face and a thank you on their lips. Many are shocked that the entire event is free to the public. We don’t charge a penny, we don’t ask for donations; this isn’t a money-making venture for us. This is about serving.

We thank you for giving us the opportunity to open our doors to our community, to show the light of Christ to our town, and to invite every soul that visits us to come back and worship with us every Lord’s Day.

Batesville is a magical town every Christmas, with houses lit in every neighborhood, and the huge Lights Display on the White River being a big attraction. The Melba theater plays free Christmas movies from yesteryear and everywhere you go people get into the festive spirit. We’re honored to be a part of why this community loves celebrating the holidays together.

Come see for yourself this December!
