Moses and Joshua: these were two huge influencers in the Bible. Great miracles were performed through them, incredible victories happened under their leadership, an entire nation was freed and given land while these men presided over Israel. And here is how the Bible sums up their great accomplishments:

“After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, …” (Joshua 1:1)
“After these things Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died…”(Joshua 24:29)

What? No mention of plagues or parting of seas and rivers, no list of kings defeated? Nope, they are simply labeled as ‘Servants of the Lord.’ But I’m sure that both of these men would think that that label is not only fair, but a huge honor. They both recognized that all of the miracles performed, all the battles won, all of their leadership, all of it was really the Lord at work and they were merely pleased to be His servant.

We are not all called to be leaders of nations or conquerors of lands but we can all be servants of the Lord. And really that is all that God wants; He isn’t looking for big, important people. He is looking for people who is simply do what He tells them to do.

Would you be labeled as a servant of the Lord?
