This past quarter our teens have been studying foundational doctrinal truths that should anchor them in their faith. We have not covered all corners of every subject but we have a good start on several key elements that are essential to someone’s faith. In each lesson we presented what we call Anchor Statements which serve as a way to describe the truth of our faith. These include:

  1. Having a biblical worldview means allowing the Word of God to shape what someone believes is true rather than human wisdom or experience.

  2. A person’s view of the world is vastly different depending on how they view God, what they believe about righteousness, and their understanding of humanity’s purpose.

  3. I believe that God exists and that He is alive.

  4. When we study the word of God we must handle it accurately by considering the context and ask appropriate questions.

  5. I believe that the Bible consists of the Old Testament and the New Testament. These books combined are what I am convicted to uphold as God-breathed and are profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, training and adequately equipping me.

  6. I believe that Jesus is the Messiah as He claimed, and that everything else He claimed about Himself is true.

Have you ever thought about these kind of statements and how you feel about the truths they include? Can you personally make the same statements of faith? Do these truths anchor you in your faith?

Perhaps these anchor statements challenge you and you need more study. Don’t hold back get in the word and dig down deep and anchor your faith in doctrinal truth.

(This quarter (Dec-Feb) we are making a shift from this topic to a textual study by working through the book of Romans to see how some of these anchor statements are applied).

What a blessing to teach our teens!

For the Lord,
