Why is the Holy Spirit essential in Christian Teaching? – Without the Holy Spirit’s essential part in Christian teaching, who is teaching and what is being taught would not be holy, nor would it be spiritual. I believe that’s an essential part of sound Christian teaching. I understand that sounds too simplistic. Nevertheless, when we engage in spiritual activities that are holy in nature, it is imperative for the Holy Spirit to play an intricate role. Furthermore, it is imperative because it is by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that the teachings of God are revealed to mankind. God’s truth is given by inspiration. All Scripture is God-breathed by the Holy Spirit so that the man of God can be adequately equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Holy Spirit also provides lessons through the Scriptures that should be taught in Christian education and uses them to convict learners who should respond with a changed life. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit for this reason. Jesus explains, “he [the Holy Spirit] will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:8). Without this work of the Holy Spirit, there would be no counsel, guidance, or help from God to know what He expects from us and how we can learn to please Him. It just makes sense to me.
