I love sunny weather! Everything seems better when the sun is shining. My mood is improved, I feel healthier and more optimistic. “Light is sweet, and it is pleasant to see the sun” (Ec 11:7). And, that’s how it should be because we were made to be exposed to the light of the sun. Without it, not only does out attitude go down, but our overall health can suffer. We are dependent on sunlight.

“His brightness was like the light; rays flashed from His hand;” (Habakkuk 3:4)
“They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light,” (Rev 22:5)
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield” (Ps 84:11)

And I could go on and on with the verses that compare God to sunlight. We were made to spend time in His presence. We were made to need His presence. Just like God made plants to reach toward the light, so He made us to reach toward Him. Circumstances may not change, but spending time in His presence can change our attitude toward things. It affects our mentality, which in turn affects our overall health.

This season, I hope that you are able to get out and get some sun every now and then. But more importantly, I hope that you spend some time in God’s light.
