There’s only a few days left of 2021. The rest of today, tomorrow, Thursday, and then Friday. If the Lord wills it Saturday’s sun will rise and we will begin living in 2022.

I’m a list man. I make a to do list each week and cross off the tasks as the week progresses. Some weeks have heavy work loads and others are just not as heavy. For several years during the final week of the year I make a list that I work on to cross off throughout the next year. Being healthier has made the list every year. Health is important to me and it should be for you too. Drink more water, eat less junk, exercise more, sleep better, and cut out bad habits. My spiritual health should be more important to me and to you too. Worship more, read more of the scriptures, serve more, gripe less, check my attitude more, give the benefit of the doubt to others more often, and purge ugly thoughts and words from my mind.

The scriptures are full of lists. There’s the obvious list of the Ten Commandments, then the list of blessings Abraham and his descendants were to receive. There’s the list of prophecy’s concerning the coming Messiah. Then the Lord lists out the beatitudes in His sermon on the Mount of olives. Have you read the list of “woes” Jesus gives to the hypocritical scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23? Then Paul provides a list of sins in Galatians 5:19-21, Colossians 3:5-6, and in 1 Timothy 1:8-11 to name a few.  Also on the other side Paul provides a list of things for us to think on in Philippians 4:8-9. These lists, and many more in the Bible, provide a great foundation of spiritual direction to help us set spiritual goals.

When making our lists for 2022 of spiritual goals we should consider the lists found in the scriptures as inspiration. Here let me get you started.

For 2022 I will work hard to:

  1. Consider the spiritual as more important over the physical
  2. Put God first above everything else for there should be no other gods before Him.
  3. Tell the story of Jesus to one stranger each week.
  4. Be careful what and who I am around and choose friends who want to help me achieve my spiritual goals.

Let me encourage you to make a list of 2022 spiritual goals. Work hard to achieve them for your spiritual health depends on it. If I can help you in anyway let me know. I will be glad to give you more direction on your spiritual goals.

I love you,

Alex
