Our month-long (or so) Bible Teacher Recruitment has begun. We will gather tomorrow for a banquet to celebrate and to thank our teachers for the great work they have done over the past year of teaching, mentoring, and making a difference in the lives of their Bible students. Teaching is the beginning of making disciples. It should always be taken as a serious task that the Lord has commissioned us to do.

Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to keep all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

The point is that the great commission should not always be looked at as if it is only about going to the remote nations, foreign lands, or people of a different culture or language. The great commission begins with those people who are closest to us. The “them” in verse twenty is also our own children, our own kids in our community, and our own adolescents in our church family. Obeying the great commission is done by us committing to teaching “them” in our classrooms here at NHCOC.

Let’s get busy and volunteer to teach them today!!!

I love you,

Alex
